Bringing people together
The Hello Club is a community group of people over the age of 50 run by volunteers.
Our aim is to create a warm and friendly atmosphere where people can meet others and have an enjoyable afternoon.
We have a Wednesday Club, which operates a little like a social club and on Thursdays we have an arts and crafts session for all abilities. Recently we started chair-based exercise on Tuesday afternoons.
We understand it can be hard to try something new and it may take a few weeks to settle in, but we do everything we can to make you feel welcome. Give Heather, our chair, a ring before you come for the first time and we will look after you.
We’ve been operating for over 10 years and our activities take place in Christ Church, whose congregation very kindly let us use their premises. We are independent of the church and have our own Board of Trustees.
From the beginning we have been locally focussed in the southern half of the borough, because we realised that in this area there were a lot of older people living by themselves who would like more chance of making friends. A number of local organisations helped set us up: Residents’ Associations, councillors, voluntary groups, community groups, council officers and individuals.
You don’t need to live locally to join us, you just need to be able to get to us.
Fundraising from national and local charities, as well as Sutton Council, and with support from sponsors such as Subsea 7, Right at Home, and Christ Church means we are able keep our subscriptions very low.
Last year, Sutton South Hello underwent a rebranding and is now known as The Hello Club.
